I bought this drive after using the Samsung 830 SSD on my MacBook Pro. That drive was fast and super reliable, hopefully the streak will continue with this one. On typical day to day operations, I don't really notice a difference between the two. Benchmarks using Black Magic Speed Tests show the following:

Samsung 830 (256GB):

Read: 468 MB/sec
Write: 389 MB/sec

Samsung 840 Pro (256GB):

Read: 512 MB/sec
Write: 451 MB/sec

If you are thinking about upgrading from an existing SSD, depending on your usage, it may not be worth it. But if you are going from a traditional HDD, go for it. You won't regret it.

The drive preforms well with write and read near 500. I bought this for the warranty as I planned to use as a video scratch disk. When I registered the drive, it came up with a 3 year warranty and not a 5 year. After two weeks of email back and forth with Samsung (no one in customer service ever picks up the phone), customer service stated in email and phone. This product only has a 3 year warranty. I finally got ahold of a manager. I was told it is a mistake in all the documentation.

I kept at it as I wanted the 5 year warranty. When I stated that it would be better to return the item and get a cheaper one if it didn't have a 5 year warranty. I was transferred to a specialist. He stated that everyone so far was incorrect. It did have a 5 year warranty even though when you registered it comes up as 3 years. He said to hold onto my sales receipt should I ever need service.

They never changed the website period until after I went up to the next manager. I would rate the item as a five but the service is a 2. It worries me so a 3 over all.

Out of 5 SSDs I own this is the only one that died after 2 month of usage (actually, the rest four are still doing well). Trying to get this thing replaced is a torture - they made it almost impossible. In their phone system, when you go through the menu, you got "press one for SSD", you press one, the person answers asks about the product and transfers you. Here I'm, waiting for somebody to pick it up for 30 minutes.

I bought a new Samsung Series 3 NP350V5C-T01US 15.6-Inch Laptop (Titan Silver) for seven hundred bucks on sale new at adorama camera. It had ENDLESS WiFi disconnects, track pad fails, and blue screens of death.After 2 repairs that did NOTHING to fix these issues, Samsung offered to replace it. I refused the same model so they offered me this. I had offered to take a downgrade, and this IS a downgrade..... I was hesitant since I was losing that faster processor, the 2 MG Gaming Card, and DVD Burner. But I was getting instead, a bigger hard drive, lighter metal body with less weight.Being disabled, that weight is a BIG deal. I already own a new Samsung Series 7 Gaming Laptop for performance as well as a nice Acer Desktop with 23 inch screen for other tasks.I needed this for all day, in my lap, goofing around online.

So why just a 3 star rating? Well it IS slower, quite a bit slower. I hope as it caches more data it may speed up a bit? But with this slower processor and same slow hard drive as the last, it makes for a lazy experience. Factor in the seven hundred dollar list price (usually just six hundred best best buy) and you can simply find WAY better specked hardware elsewhere. But I am where I am so I have no way out. The other problem was right off the bat, the same nightmare WiFi issues from the old computer haunt this one as well, even with an entirely different Card! Luckily I knew this beforehand and thanks to a reviewer named dissed who reviews the big brother to this computer, the Samsung ATIV Book 6 15.6-Inch Full HD Touchscreen Laptop (Mineral Ash Black), I knew the fix. It goes as follows per HIS wonderful review:

getting rid of the "intel" driver and reverting to Microsoft driver.

1. Uninstall the Intel Proset wireless software/driver from the computer under control panel uninstall program. (not the blue tooth just the wireless)...after thats done..
2. Open device manager/network adapters
3. double click centrino advanced-n 6235
4.click driver tab
5. It should say driver provider Microsoft / 12/5/2011 / 14.8.8.75
6. click events tab to see if driver service added was (NETwNe64)

that will fix the drop problems.

then fine tune your adapter

1. click tab power management / uncheck allow computer to turn device off to save power
2. click tab advanced / make sure transmit power is set to highest

So I tried this and it has been stable for 24 hours.I will update as ANY changes occur. The other reason for the 3 star rating is it only has 3 USB ports, only ONE 3.0 port. Also, you do NOT have a battery you can replace. It AND the hard drive are buried (NOT accessible for owner replacement as is normal on a laptop), build inside the case so good luck if you need a battery or if the hard drive fails. Just WAY too many negatives for me at this price to rate it higher.

I would recommend shopping around, reading reviews.Lots and lots of reviews. I see other brands with 1 TB hard drives, faster processors AND with optical drives for this price everywhere. On a positive note, this is a FAR more sturdy computer with a vastly nicer (more solid) keyboard as well. THE construction just oozes quality, UNLIKE THE ONE IN PLASTIC THIS REPLACES. As far as positives go, that is just about it. I hope this Samsung will not be another lemon. I have been a die hard Samsung computer fan boy. But I am sad to say that this will probably be mt LAST......

UPDATE:
After a month is has become a MUCH faster laptop thank goodness. It is also 100% rock solid stable. Nice change.....

This ultrabook weighs less than half of what my previous Sony laptop weighed, and appears to have an aluminum frame. I'm guessing on the aluminum frame, as it doesn't flex like other ultrabooks I've tried. The finish and color give the impression of a high-end laptop, but be prepared to wipe for fingerprints after using. My only concerns were the limited viewing angles and storage. I find the need to adjust the screen more often than with my Sony which is a minor inconvenience. This model does not come with a touch-screen or DVD player, but I purchased a portable Samsung Blu-ray burner to install any additional software I have on disc, a 32 GB Corsair Survivor flash drive for portability between my office computer and this ultrabook, and MS Office 365 for accessing all of my files through the cloud (and in case I forget to bring the flash drive).

The computer was working fine for the first two weeks and then all of a sudden I went to turn it on and nothing happened. When I press the power button, the little blue light turns on and that's it. Nothing else happens (and yes I did make sure the battery wasn't dead). This is something that should not happen with a near $2,000 laptop.

I purchased this laptop for work. It is a complete lemon. For $1,700 this laptop should be nearly perfect - it is barely passable as a functioning computer. I would give it zero stars if I could. The trackpad is balky. Simple tasks like pointing and clicking require multiple attempts. It is maddening. Sometimes it just doesn't work. You have to restart the computer for it to work again. Sometimes the computer will not recognize the free space on the hard drive. The Book 9 comes with 256Gb SSD. I had about 100Gb free and then it would just disappear. Restarting the computer would make it come back, but then at random times the computer wouldn't be able to find the 100Gb and the Windows would say the disk drive was full. Another annoying issue is that wifi will disconnect at random times. The laptop will reconnect after you choose your network in network connections. The other laptops we use (mostly Thinkpads) do not have this problem. Metro on Windows 8 on this computer is inconsistent as well. At times Win 8 will not update apps in metro. It just won't update, which renders the apps requiring updates useless because Windows 8 won't let you open an app requiring an update. I've called Samsung several times and they try to be helpful, but they aren't able to help because the computer sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. So if a technician tests it and it works, they can't help me. My problem is that something on the computer won't work 2 days out of 7, which makes it a somewhat unreliable business tool. I and other IT professionals have wasted countless hours trying to make this computer do what it's supposed to do. Samsung will not replace the machine or provide a refund. Our next step is to ask Amazon if they will provide a refund.

bought this laptop to help me edit photos I take as I am learning photography. I needed a laptop that could handle a photo editing program, such as PhotoShop, and lots of storage for saved photos. So far, it's working great for this purpose, with one exception: Windows 8 does not recognize .dat files of online photo editors such as Pixlr or Picmonkey, so that's a negative. Since I am use to Windows Vista, I was a little worried about getting a laptop with the new Windows 8 system, but once you get used to the vastly different arrangement of everything, it's pretty cool and easy to use. Overall, I am very satisfied.

After some experimentation, the best solution is to connect it to a remote mouse. This chromebook responds to mouse control beautifully. I like most about this one is its robust connection to youtube. I can play through my playlist without interruption of connection as wheras other chrome devices tend to lost connection frequently. That one works like a charm. I now use this exclusively to chromecast youtube program to my TV without interruption as I play through my playlist from beginning to end.

Disregard the previous post that says x32 something. What he meant was that this tablet runs 32-bit version of windows 8, which most compact tablets or netbooks do. Most software these days including recent ones gives you the option to install either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version one so in most cases you won't have any problem. This tablet is so light and so easy to carry but at the same time fully functional with full windows 8. I use the s-pen with microsoft one note to take notes in lectures and I love it. I'm so happy that my backpack is much lighter now.

I've been using this tablet for 3 purposes. Firstly as a mini travel laptop that weighs very little and takes up very little space, secondly as a sketchbook, and lastly just as a couch tablet like most people.

As a sketchbook, it's pretty solid. I've installed photoshop and while the computer isn't fast enough for giant files, it works perfectly well for light sketching and painting.

When it comes down to it, this is not the fastest machine on the market. What it is though, is the cheapest full windows 8 tablet with a pressure sensitive pen that is currently available. The Surface Pro is faster and overall better, however it's also heavier, costs more, and doesn't come with a keyboard/cover (which costs even more).

Weigh your options. There are android tablets that are pressure sensitive and faster for cheaper if that's what you want. The newest galaxy tablet is that. This particular tablet just suited my needs the best based on what was on the market.

This is a practical laptop case that also gives a touch of personalization with the many color options. I purchased the aqua, when I first saw the product I thought the cases were opaque however, all the colors are transparent. My computer could fit better into the case but it has a bit of physical damage that makes it hard for the case to close up completely. It is very simple to put it on, but it is also easy for the case to pop out if not careful. Overall if you are looking for a nice and affordable hard case for your Samsung ultrabook, this is a good option.

I just got my Series 9 AO7 with Windows 8 and it is nothing short of Awesome! In August I bought a 13" MacBook Air, which revolutionized my business travel experience with its slim profile and light weight, and for the most part it is a very satisfying laptop. The problem for me with the Mac was that I mostly use Microsoft Office programs, and Excel on a Mac is a true nightmare of biblical proportions; slow and not at all user-friendly. That was my first Mac experience and if not for the Excel issues I would probably be very happy. The Series 9 has all the great multi-function pad features of the Mac, but this 15" has double the Ram plus the latest 1.9 I7 processor and it is blindingly fast. Win8 is taking a little getting used to but the learning curve is very fast if you are comfortable playing around a bit. The weight difference between the 13" Mac and 15" S9 isn't noticeable and the bigger screen is quite welcome with a length profile that is less than 2" different. The S9 case is sleek and beautiful, it fits perfectly in my briefcase which was a concern, and the powercord comes apart and is much slimmer than my old Dell (which I'll never go back to).

I have not noticed any of the wifi issues others have complained about; maybe it was fixed?

This Samsung Ultrabook is hands down the best PC I've ever owned. I highly recommend it!

This is a great laptop. well built. strong feel. super cool look. really fast boot time in seconds. The only th;ng I really couldn't stand was windows 8. was willing to deal with it but then i found out that my work VPN was not compatible with win8 so it had to go.

It took a long time to figure out how to make this computer boot from USB so I could install Win7 so i'll give some instructions here:

1. boot computer and push F2 repeatedly to enter bios
2. hit arrow key to right and stop at Advanced. Disable Fast BIOS Mode
3. tap over more to Boot tab and disable secure boot; change OS Mode to CSM OS
4. Select Device Priority and ENTER, then change Boot Order making USB first
5. F10 to save.
now should boot USB.

This laptop is phenomenal, especially for the price. Crazy fast, boots in less that 10 seconds, powerful enough to do some light gaming and portable enough that i can bring it with me easily when I travel.

Windows 8 is really not meant for a traditional laptop or desktop. It is meant to be used in any type of hardware - mobile phone, tablet or larger computer. It needs to have a touch interface. This ultrabook has a great touch interface that integrates well with the touch pad, so you can move back and forth between touch and mouse seamlessly. The display is very bright and brilliant and the machine is very light. I am very happy with it.

This is a great laptop! It is extremely portable with a sleek design. I use it for downloading/editing photos and accessing the Internet. It is perfect for both of those things. The keyboard is easy to type on and I haven't had any issues with the keys. The battery life is also amazing. Would highly recommend the ultrabook.

Samsung Series 9 NP900X3D-A04US 13.3-Inch Vouchers

I researched all the latest lightweight laptops to replace an aging Acer 12" Netbook. Needed something to travel with and use around the house. Wanted a 6+hour battery, 3 lbs or less and 13" screen. This 13" ultrabook is almost 1/2 lb lighter at 2.5 lbs than my older netbook and weighs the same as my wife's Ipad with keyboard. The screen is very bright and sharp. Computer is quiet and sleek looking, Macbook Air imitation. Battery is good for 6-8 hours. Computer boots up in seconds with the 128GB SSD. Wish it had a 256 GB SSD but 128GB will do the job and is a lot more than the Ipad offers. I did not like the Windows 8 interface so installed a simple app that replicated Windows 7 menu on startup. This computer should last me for another 5+ years.

Once you set up the windows 8 look and feel the way you wanted and disable some of the actions of the touchpad, it works great. Bootup from powerup or sleep is sooooo fast. This thing is so thin and yet sturdy. Screen is awesome! Anti-glare screen, awesome, may be the only highend ultrabook with anti-glare screen. I absolutely hate glossy screen. Most windows 8 apps are low quality and very few decent ones. Touchpad works fine for desktop apps, but some windows 8 apps are a little flacky with the touchpad.

Recovery saved me a few times. Some old software do not work properly and would not uninstall and will cause repeated pop up error msg in Windows 8. The only way out for me was to use "Recovery" app to bring my system back to the previous state. It works remarkably well. So I would say SSD space allocated for Recovery is a must have if you ever corrupt your system unintentionally.

 Rick:
I work in IT and havent had to buy a laptop in over 10 years. I really liked the size and specs of this laptop so I ordered it. Within 3 weeks the system board died. I contacted Samsung customer service and they are awful. they are clueless and I had to call back several times to get answers. The part was so back ordered that they said they would issue me a full refund. I heard from some colleagues that this has been happening a lot with Samsung

My2Cents:
I got this new Series 9 and immediately noticed the horrifically slow wifi. I searched and found many users having the same problem with this and earlier versions of the Series 9. I almost returned it, and then found that the problem is in the power management settings. The problem is when you are on battery power (not plugged in) the laptop uses the power saving settings. The default "maximum power saving" setting for wifi is WAY underpowered. I found that moving it up one click to "Medium power saving" fixed the wifi and at that setting it is faster than my other PCs. I don't know how much this effects battery life at this point, but it doesn't matter because there is no way to use wifi at the default setting. Good luck!

fyi - you must change the power setting via the Control Panel power settings, the Samsung provided Easy Systems Settings does not allow you to change the wifi power setting.

This laptop checks all the boxes for me. Everything. From the matte 15" screen to 256gb SSD to the insanely thin and light body. While thin, it is very sturdy. It's got a large and very usable trackpad. There are no heat issues. Nothing wrong with this at all. It's not a PLS screen (I don't think) , but it's very bright and viewing angles are good enough for me. I'm coming from a Dell Latitude D630 that I loved. I tried a later Dell and sent it back within an hour. I tried a macbook pro for a year, but never used it and never got off the D630. This thing had me off the D630 on day one (yesterday). It's well worth the money.

I bought this computer as a birthday present for myself (yes I do give myself the best presents) and I'm so pleased with this purchase that I can't even begin to talk about it. It's extremely fast, comes with minimal "software baggage", and was so easy to set up it was a bit of a surprise. It took very little effort to migrate my software and data and I was operational in no time at all. I read that others have had issues with slow WiFi, but that has not been the situation with me. I've had no problems there at all. The screen is probably the best color and brilliance I've ever seen in a computer...it's unbelievable. I highly recommend this Samsung Series 9 i7 processor ultrabook, did I say how fast it was?, to anyone. I've shown it to all my friends and they agree with me about how nice a computer this is. As if that weren't enough, I also received as a gift from a friend, an adapter that I use to stream movies to my HDTV. This computer is the BEST!!

Windows 8 tablets are really not in the same category as iPads and Android tabs, as they are able to run full versions of Windows 8 along with apps. This tablet is especially the case, partially because of the price (way more than an iPad or Android tab), but mainly because of its functionality. For me, this has become a total laptop replacement, which additionally incorporates a touchscreen and very accurate handwriting recognition. Highly recommended for business. Also, don't be daunted by the 128GB storage capacity- the hard drive is replaceable (if you know what you're doing and are very careful), and there are 512GB mSATA SSD's available right now. Just be sure to use Belarc Advisor (free download) to get your Windows 8 key, since there's no sticker on the unit.

On the negative side, the screen is not as crisp as some others--look elsewhere if you're a video fanatic--and the black finish is a real fingerprint magnet. It's reasonably nice looking but not as cool as other Samsung laptops.

I was kinda hesitant about buying a laptop to replace my 4 year old media/gaming pc. I wanted something that I could connect to my tv in the living room for my main source of entertainment since I play a reasonable amount of games and use Hulu for shows. Also I wanted something that I could take with me and have the same great experience on the road. As of right now I have my gaming mouse and keyboard connected to the device. When setting up Windows, the keyboard on the laptop felt really well positioned and very east to type on. The screen on this looks amazing and a lot of my friends that see it can vouch for that. Being that its a Samsung screen i'm not surprised on how great it looks. What I'm more shocked about is that Samsung makes a great laptop. Ive owned a few Samsung devices in the past such as tvs, phones, and tablets and loved them all. When it came to computing I always stayed with my "goto" brands HP or Asus. Its only been about a week of owning this and I've thrown Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, Torchlight 2, and Deus Ex Human Revolution at it and it seems to run everything on high really well with a high frame rate. I was kind of amazed on how good Guild Wars 2 ran because for some reason that game benchmarks a bit low on other systems. I was getting a reasonable 50-60 fps in major hubs so no complaints there. All in all I know for $1500 I could have built a pretty monster PC but I wanted the mobility and I believe I made the right choice. If your looking for a great laptop this is hands down the best price I've seen and I'm glad that Samsung is stepping up to the plate in gaming mobility.

I did a great deal of research on a new gaming laptop. They can range anywhere from 1500.00-5,000.00 depending on the setup. This laptop was highly rated in at least two online forums/magazines. It's specs were some of the best for the price. I previously owned a Samsung and it was a decent computer, so I bought it. It has run Battlefield and WOT with no problems. Its got a great processor, plenty of memory and a good video card for the price. It comparable to several higher priced models including Alienware. The only issues I have are the power cord, (Its got a huge power adapter, like a brick), it tends to get a little hot when running games on the left side, even though it was advertised as having a great cooling system. But most gaming laptops have this issue. The good things were the screen resolution, gaming speeds and ease of setup. I am not a fan of Windows 8 though. But oh well. It is big and heavy, and would no longer fit into my laptop backpack. But again, its a GAMING laptop, the tend to be bulkier. Overall for the price, you can't beat it. Make sure its the SO2US model! There is a SO1US model that looks very similar, but has weaker specs. Best Buy was selling that model.

I did a lot of research going between Asus, HP, Toshiba (Quismio), and Alienware (Dell). Dollar for dollar the series 7 was top of the line components asides from the video card (Nvidia 675M). Unless you want to pay between 600.00 and 1000.00 more for a laptop the 675m is a great vid card. All in all the standing price almost everywhere is the sugg retail 1899.00 but when I found it for 200 off 1699.00 I had to jump on it ... Another great feature that only a couple laptops provide is adequate cooling .. Asus and Samsung both had dual fans for Proc. and vid card. Laptops are a heat issue from the go and having had a laptop for the past 10 years I knew it was time to make that a key feature in my selection process. If you need to have top of the line with a decent price, this Samsung series 7 gamer is a good value.
As far as features the only complaint I have is windows 8... I am a xp user and windows 8 is a trip to get used to. The series 7 is fast, has tons of space, and the feel is really nice. The keyboard comfortable and has great feel. and the screen is so bright that I have to turn down the brightness when viewing internet pages. Tiger Direct is the vendor I purchased the laptop thru and they got it to me on-time it was due to me between Jan 10 and Jan 15 .. I got it Jan 10.

I bought my laptop in late April or early May of 2011 on EBay (brandnew). As advertised, it boots up in seconds. The picture is crisp clear. The numeric keyboard is a plus. But from the very start I had problem with power button. Sometimes it would start and shut down within a second. As time passed it happened more frequently and then it would happen three times before I could get it started. I called and sent it to Samsung (they provided UPS label); they returned it stating it had been fixed. It was not. I sent it back again asking for a different laptop with similar specifications. They refused to replace it; but, they fixed it. Within a few months the problem reappeared. Of course, each time I had to move all the data to an external disc and remove all my passwords and reconfigure it upon return. I have a washer/dryer from Samsung and the dryer has the same problem. I am very disappointed. No more Samsung products for me.

This laptop worked perfectly for the first year I had it. After that, it started having a host of problems. It is unable to run games that it used to run perfectly. It randomly restarts. It will freeze up on certain web pages, without fail, and have to be manually turned off and on. It keeps overheating. AND it keeps shocking me, which I know is not good for the computer! Tried to talk with Samsung, but ran into a major problem...there isn't a serial number on the laptop! Of course, customer service doesn't believe me and is treating me like I'm an idiot, but I can clearly see where the serial number is supposed to be and isn't. They have promised to call me back in 2-5 business days several times, and weeks later I still have not heard back from them...will not be buying a samsung product again.

Looking back on my purchase I do not regret it. It is a powerful laptop with all the necessities and has two hard drives that amount to about 700gb of storage capacity. The camera is decent and the ram plus the video card are very useful. I loved it and the only complaint I have is that it cost a little too muvh for what it delivered. That is not to say it doesn't deliver.

First of all, I bought this laptop, but not from Amazon. I wanted the option of getting in some ones face IF there was a problem. I am happy to say this has not happened, and I am very impressed with this computer. I am still adjusting to Windows 8, but this is the OS windows offers, so may as well get use to it. The boot time is incredibly fast, battery life is great. All around, I am a happy camper.

Very solid build, very mature design. The 8Gb flash drive gives the 1Tb hard drive a zippy response that makes it a real pleasure to use. The keyboard layout is sensible and feels right. The keystroke is a little shallow but that's a small quibble. I'm sure there's more to know but so far so good. And with Samsung's recent re-branding of their entire laptop line, prices on these models have fallen to a level that should change your buying strategy.

On the surface this seems like a great computer with a great price. The "great price" should have been the clue something was amiss. First of all it comes with Windows 8 as I had missed the deadline for getting Windows 7. It has been a real challenge to say the least. Biggest problem I am having is this computer can not seem to sustain its internet connection. All kinds of tricks have been tried by the best of them out there to no avail. Keeps saying it can not find "default gateway." I am being told my some IT folks there is something wrong with the hardware in the computer. Some suggest I get an external adapter to over ride the internal mechanism (sorry, don't know the technical term). Well that is not acceptable; it is like putting a donut spare tire on a car and saying the flat tire is fixed; problem may be solved but not "fixed". If I had bought this at a retail outlet like Best Buy I at least could have at least taken it back and had someone look at it. Sending it in the mail to an unknown retailer just seemed too risky, and there was no mention of a warranty on this with the retailer. Definitely DO NOT recommend buying a lap top on line!

I only purchased this a week ago, but I find this an amazing piece of machinery. I am astounded how fast the internet is on this and I like Google Chrome. I switched over from IE because I was getting tired of the constant error messages and having it close all the time. I'm glad I did, it's easier to use and very stable. I have an Acer Netbook from two years ago that is great, but slowing down even with 2 GB of Ram. I decided to use that as my "Windows" laptop and use this Chromebook for web-surfing. I even use the trackpad because it is the best I have ever used. It works perfectly, and I have come across some really bad trackpads in my day. I know that this is not for everyone but if you have a main desktop or laptop and want a supplemental computer for really fast web-surfing, this is the way to go. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this as an extra computer to have around the house. The biggest weakness is the inability to print unless your using a google cloudprint enabled printer.
